A recent survey by the Datafolha Institute pointed out that the lack of financial supporters is classified as a difficulty for 41% of social organizations. Furthermore, the lack of donations of materials and equipment affects 13% of institutions and social projects, and the low participation of volunteers impacts 11% of this type of organization. With this in mind, the Lupa do Bem portal, an initiative by Sherlock Communicationsan award-winning public relations and digital marketing agency in Latin America, was created to support the promotion of NGOs, OSCIPs and social projects, so that they can gain financial assistance, volunteering and visibility in the media.
The news, according to Fabiana Rosa, journalist and founder of the portal, is the launch of the new website, which has a modern and attractive design, with innovative features.
We want to be a true encyclopedia, mapping as many projects as possible throughout Brazil and being a facilitating tool to connect those who want to support, through donations or volunteering, to those who need help, he says.
The new website has a space for consultation, where it will be possible to filter projects by category and by Brazilian states.
We have a map of Brazil, and then, for example, we can research projects focused on sport in the state of Pará. When the list of projects mapped into these categories appears, we will also be able to easily see if they need financial help, materials, volunteers, etc., explains Fabiana.
In practice, Lupa do Bem is a space dedicated to the production and dissemination of content with social impact and already has 22 thousand hits on the website. Recently celebrating two years of existence, the portal has already published 233 projects with content translated into English and Spanish. The initiatives that have already been mapped are in the areas of education, culture, technology, sport, health, LGBT+ community, science, sustainability, children, elderly people and women’s rights, among others.
In addition to supporting publicity, the portal has also provided financial assistance to some projects, and 87 of them have already received the agreed amount. The impact calculation estimates that more than 3,500 people are being directly affected by these donations.
Launched on July 19, 2021, on National Charity Day, Lupa do Bem is a space dedicated to the production of content with social impact. With plurality and balance, the objective is to highlight ideas and people who are promoting change and expanding voices in society.
We created Lupa do Bem in 2021, in partnership with the team of journalists from Favela em Pauta. Since then, we have worked hard, and today, we have a multidisciplinary team that is responsible for making the project work and grow even more, says the journalist.
Positive impact
To provide content with clear and accessible language, the Lupa do Bem project partnered with Pitanga.Mob, a company specialized in engagement and fundraising, to develop a e-book aimed at organizations in the search for sources of financing. The 22-page publication clarifies technical terms and simplifies explanations about how public notices and other forms of fundraising work, topics that are originally seen as more complex by project creators.
The publication provides data on donations in the country, guidance on ongoing planning, the importance of communicating value and mapping fundraising sources. one e-book which covers everything from developing a fundraising plan to using technology and marketing to reach potential donors.
According to Fabiana, the idea came about when she noticed the lack of support, and often, knowledge, that small organizations or projects have on how to expand their operations.
There are several strategies that Brazilian NGOs and CSOs can adopt to raise resources in an efficient and sustainable way. Fundraising can be carried out with different strategies, from searching for individual and corporate donations, to fundraising events. It is important that these organizations establish clear goals and define a detailed action plan to achieve them, he adds.
