For the first time, Spotify promoted Spotify Sparks in São Paulo, an event that brought together global and regional leaders, as well as content creators, artists and partner brands to discuss digital audio in the Brazilian market and the role of advertising in this ecosystem. Brazil hosted the first edition of Spotify Sparks, which will also be held in India.
During the event, Brian Berner, Global Head of Advertising Sales at Spotify, highlighted how Spotify is increasingly an assertive environment for connecting artists, fans and brands. “Advertisers and agencies are key players in the Spotify ecosystem. They contribute to more than half of our users enjoying the platform for free, at the same time that their investments contribute to the growth of the audio industry”, comments the executive.
Advertising Sales Director in Brazil, Jos Melchert, led a conversation with executives Konrad Dantas (KondZilla), Carolina Caracas (Budweiser) and Marina Daineze (Vivo) about how the deep and authentic connection between brands and listeners provided by Spotify generates exceptional opportunities for brands to stand out. “Spotify has become a catalyst for successful advertising campaigns, providing advertisers with a dynamic platform to create impact and reach their audiences effectively, showcasing the power of digital audio today,” adds Melchert.
The evolution of Spotify in almost a decade in Brazil and its relationship with local culture were also topics discussed by Spotify executives Roberta Pate, Business Lead in Brazil, and Renata Lodi, Head of Marketing in Latin America, respectively. Rodrigo Azevedo, music editor in Brazil, and Carolina Alzuguir, Head of relations with artists and record labels in Brazil, commented on what Brazilians listen to, some of the main changes in the music industry, and how Spotify’s exclusive music programs give visibility to new artists and underrepresented voices. Veigh, a featured artist on the RADAR Brasil program, with approximately 10 million monthly listeners, also took to the stage to comment on his time on the program in 2022.
Camila Justo, Head of Podcasts in Brazil, commented on the platform’s strategies to advance the format. Furthermore, she had a chat with creators Camila Fremder, Natlia Sousa and Gabriela Mayer about their work and their relationship with fandoms. Also at the event, the Spotify Podcast Festival was announced, an event that will connect podcast creators with their fans and listeners in live sessions of their programs. The event will take place on November 4th, in So Paulo.
