The new tool builds on some of Spotify’s most popular features, like Match and Collaborative Playlists, and combines them with personalization technology to make listening to music with friends even better.
To start a Jam, the Premium user selects the playlist or the song to play. Then he see the button Start a Jam clicking To connect at the bottom of the screen or in the three-dot menu on the playlist, favorite album or song. You can also select a device to mirror, either a smartphone or speaker. People using shared Wi-Fi will also receive requests to join the Jam. The invitation is automatically made to those who open the Spotify app.
And to invite friends (Premium or Free users) to participate in your Jam, you can use three different ways. You can activate the bluetooth and connect your own device with that of a friend, ask friends to read the QR Code on the screen host from Jam or click Compartilhar to send the link via social media, text, SMS and more. Easy, right?
Everyone in the Jam can add songs to the queue, see who added which song, and receive recommendations, all on their own device. The session host also has the ability to determine who is in the Jam, change the track order, or remove a song that doesn’t fit. Additionally, it can activate the CGuest controls’ to allow everyone in the session to remove or change the order of tracks. When these controls are disabled, only the host can rearrange the queue.
The new feature is now available to Premium and Free users around the world, but to access it, the Spotify app must be updated.
