Project focuses on entrepreneurs and people who seek to transform and make access to the area
Instituto C&A and the Meu Corpo Real platform launched on September 21st, National Day for the Struggle of People with Disabilities, the miniseries “Inclusive Curation Sewing experiences to design new futures.
The project invites the viewer to an educational journey that seeks to demystify issues related to inclusion in the world of fashion with the aim of raising awareness among the population and impacting brands to develop products that are not only functional and adaptable, but also have style and fashion information. for people with disabilities.
One of the important purposes of Instituto C&A is to build the possibility of new futures through fashion. Unfortunately, we live in a society where disability has been placed in an invisible field, little discussed and it is past time to give light and due importance to these issues, said Gustavo Narciso, executive director of the Institute.
Divided into four episodes, the miniseries reinforces opportunities and highlights difficulties that aim to help create pieces that not only meet the requirement of being easy to wear, but that are also attractive collections, with fashion and style information, so that all people can use fashion as a means of expression.
According to recent research conducted by Coherent Market Insights, the global adaptive clothing market was valued at US$1,259.1 million. This data shows that, from an entrepreneurial point of view, investing in inclusion is a need for social commitment, but also an aspirational and profitable business vision.
In the project, one of the driving forces is anti-ability designer Michele Simes, who led the curation process and script for the episodes. Throughout the episodes, Michele selected a group of influencers to compose and bring a specialized perspective to the topic.
The episodes feature names such as Maria Paula Vieira, Geisa Farini, Rebeca Costa and Las Ramires who share their perspectives, stories and unique insights about inclusion.
When it comes to inclusive fashion, we see a great and sensible concern with the modeling of products, however the ecosystem that surrounds this topic is much broader than just the functionality of the pieces. The guiding principle for the development of the miniseries was to open a dialogue where fashion for PwDs begins to advance on fronts that are almost never addressed, such as: style repertoire, shopping experience, production chain and, last but not least, product functionality, explained Michele .
The videos will be available online and free of charge, on Instituto C&A’s YouTube.
