The Cartoons Against Violence project, created by Leo Burnett TM for the CNJ in partnership with Abap, was launched at the opening of the plenary session of the Federal Supreme Court, yesterday. A project by the National Justice Council, Cartoons Against Violence, which involves the publication of cartoons in media outlets to raise awareness and seek to reduce the alarming numbers of violence against women in Brazil, said the president of the STF, minister Lus Roberto Barroso.
The Cartoons Against Violence project began to be shown in media outlets and communication platforms across Brazil, this Wednesday (4). These will be comic strips, cartoons with drawings produced by more than 20 Brazilian artists invited to address the various forms of violence against women – beyond domestic violence, reaching the work and social environment.
Brazil has several urgent issues to be worked on. Fighting violence against women is one of them. This project has the importance and size necessary to make society rethink its values. It is an honor for Leo Burnett TM to be with the CNJ and ABAP on this project., says Marcelo Reis, CEO and CCO of the agency.
A Advertising is a powerful tool for transformation, education, information and entertainment, and will always evolve as new technologies and society itself transform. ABAP is honored to support the CNJ in tackling a critical and still latent problem in the country, says Marcia Esteves, president of ABAP.
Violence committed against women is among the main causes of death worldwide. In 2022, more than 640 thousand cases of domestic and family violence and/or femicide were filed. Never forget that the situation is very serious. Last year, the number of femicides rose 6.1% compared to the previous year, highlighted Barroso.
The creation of the campaign by Leo Burnett was pro-bono. In addition to the cartoons, the project website (www.cnj.jus.br/protecaomulheres) provides public information, such as reporting channels and legislation on the subject. The project will end on the International Day to Combat Violence Against Women (25/11).
