The objective is to rescue the Club’s ancestral connections
Santos FC and Umbro launch the new third uniform in honor of Asian culture, with the aim of rescuing the Club’s and the city of Santos’ ancestral connections with Japan.
“With Asia we close a great cycle of the Santos do Mundo campaign, which has already toured Europe, the Americas and Africa. Santos FC and the city of Santos have a strong connection with Japan. We are sure that the new third uniform will be a great sales success”, stated the Club’s president, Andres Rueda.
The shirt is inspired by traditional graphics from Japanese culture, and features elements in lighter blue and red with waves representing the sea and also stylized drawings of carp, a fish that is a symbol of strength, persistence, bravery and success in different Eastern cultures.
To reinforce this aesthetic, the new Santos jersey has a special label on the sleeve of the shirt. The stamp has the name “Japan” in a handwritten font inspired by Japanese writing, with the flag of the Asian country mixed with the name in a stylized and modern way.
“It must always be remembered that Santos is not only one of the biggest teams in Brazil, but also a global club, acclaimed throughout the planet for having been primarily responsible for taking Brazilian football, in its excellence, to all corners of the world. This new mantle tells a remarkable and unique episode of this trip, in which the club was able to face several Asian teams, something unprecedented in world football. The type of history that only Santos fans can be proud to have”, explains Eduardo Dal Pogetto, director national brand of Umbro Brasil.
In total, Peixe played in Asia on 58 occasions. They won 45, drew 10 and lost just three games. There were 155 goals scored by Santos against 48 conceded.
