The CEO of MetaMark Zuckerberg, announced the introduction of two new artificial intelligence-based tools for Facebook e Instagram. These tools, built based on the company’s image generation model, Emu, seek to offer advanced options for editing photographs and creating high-quality videos, based on textual descriptions.
The first tool, called ‘Emu Edit’, will enable users to precisely alter images based on text input. The video demonstration of this tool suggests functionality similar to those offered by Adobe, Google e Canvaallowing you to remove or replace objects and people in photographs without the need for professional experience in image editing.
One aspect that stands out is the tool’s ability to automatically identify the section of the image to be modified, without users having to select it manually. For example, if they type “turn the dog into a panda”, Emu Edit will identify and make the change to the dog within the image. Meta states that Emu Edit will focus on making only the changes indicated in the edit request.
The second feature in development is ‘Emu Video’. This feature can generate videos from prompts text, reference images, or a combination of the two. The results, while still not entirely realistic, represent a step up from the basic animations produced by Meta’s ‘Make-A-Video’ system last year.
There is still no concrete information about when these new editing tools will be available on Facebook or Instagram. While there are similar tools available, such as Google Photos’ magic editor and Adobe’s generative fill for Photoshopintegrating these capabilities directly into Facebook and Instagram makes it easier for users, eliminating the need to use third-party services.
