6 delicious Christmas films to watch on streaming

Just like me, I know that there are a lot of people who love Christmas movies. Every year I see a new batch of them – always with a smile on their face, no matter how silly they are. So I listed some of my favorites here – they are all available on streaming.

Iluso also lives – Disney Plus

This is my favorite of all time. Recently it also became known by its original title, The Miracle on 34th Street. But when it was released in Brazilian cinemas in the 40s, it had the title Iluso Tambm Lives. Kris Kringle (Edmund Gwenn, who won an Oscar for this role) is a friendly old man. His silhouette and imposing white beard get him hired to work as Santa Claus at Macy’s department store. However, Kris begins to worry his boss Doris Walker (Maureen O’Hara) when she discovers that he claims to be the real Good Old Man. Accusing him of being crazy, Doris submits Kris to medical examinations that confirm that he is insane. The point is that Susan (Natalie Wood), Doris’ daughter, faithfully believes that Kris is the real Santa Claus and comes to understand the true meaning of Christmas. There is a 1994 remake, titled The Miracle on 34th Street, that doesn’t hold a candle to this one.

White Christmas – Looke

Based on the hit Broadway musical, it has one of the most popular songs in the history of North American discography: White Christmas. After leaving World War II, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis (Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye) abandoned their military career and decided to form a singing and dancing duo. To get closer to the beautiful sisters Betty and Judy (Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen), who also sing and dance, they follow them to a Christmas show in Vermont. But there they will end up crossing paths with their former commander.

The Coopers’ Christmas – GloboPlay

Every year, the Cooper family gathers at the home of patriarchs Sam and Charlotte to celebrate the date, but the two are about to separate after 40 years of marriage. Their children also have a difficult time. Hank is unemployed and Eleanor is in love with a married doctor. Charlotte’s jealous sister, Emma, can’t deal with her loneliness, while their father, Bucky, is increasingly close to the waitress at the restaurant he frequents. The sensational cast: Alan Arkin,John Goodman,Ed Helms,Diane Keaton, Jake Lacy,Anthony Mackie,Amanda Seyfried,June Squibb,Marisa Tomei, and Olivia Wilde.

Chronicles of Christmas – Netflix

The film follows the line of those cute films of the time, which were previously produced by Disney, and later by the Lifetime channel. Two brothers have to deal with the loss of their father when their first Christmas arrives without him. But, when they end up alone on Christmas Eve, they end up seeing Santa Claus enter through their chimney. The problem is that an accident ends up leaving the two with Santa Claus, and without the sleigh and reindeer. The three then have to find a way to recover the sleigh, and finish delivering all the Christmas Eve presents. Kurt Russell is great as Santa Claus. The film had a sequel, also available on Netflix.

A Toy Hero – Disney Plus

A businessman (Arnold Schwarzenegger) arrives late to his son’s karate class, who has received his blue belt. To try to make up for it, he promises the boy to give him anything he asks for for Christmas. The boy then asks for the “Turbo Man”, the toy that is the sensation of the moment and every child’s dream. It turns out that it’s already Christmas Eve and the toy doesn’t exist anywhere at all. And worse, all stocks are already sold out. He then sets out to fulfill his promise, no matter how much it costs him. But, in addition to getting into a series of complications, he still has to be smarter than a postman, who has the same objective as him and is equally obstinate in his intention.

The Star of Bethlehem – Netflix/ Prime Video

Adorable animation, with original music by Mariah Carey. Bo is a young donkey who is tired of being trapped in a stable, where he always runs in circles to make the mill run. Encouraged by the bird David, his best friend, he manages to escape. During his escape, he hides in the middle of a wedding party. At the end of the event, he is found by the newlywed Mary, who is carrying in her womb the one who will be known as the son of God.
