Reception and development project, entitled “Programa Recomeos”, operates on two main axes
Riachuelo and UNHCR announced the renewal of the partnership between the companies, entitled “Programa Recomeos”.
The reception and development project works on the labor, social and emotional integration of refugees and migrants, and aims to support these people in rebuilding their lives and promoting autonomy and integration into society.
The initiative operates on two main axes, namely work, selecting, hiring and providing full support to these people; education, training for the future and providing humanized interdisciplinary training such as Portuguese language, recognition of local culture, financial education and personal and community development practices;
“Our main objective is to act in favor of human dignity. Recomeos is not just a program focused on employability, but on the reception and development of these people, with the aim of helping them restart their lives in another country. We want to embrace different cultures and promote a welcoming environment so that each person can have a dignified living condition in all areas”, stated Valesca Magalhes, Director of Sustainability and Internal Communications at Riachuelo.
The partnership between the companies began last year with the purpose of serving 140 Venezuelan women on the three fronts of action of the UN Agency for Refugees, namely saving lives through shelter and basic and financial assistance; ensure rights with psychosocial care and legal assistance for registration and documentation and build futures, with opportunities for professional courses to facilitate access to the job market and internalization to other states in Brazil.
“The partnership with Riachuelo helps us in a fundamental way to build bridges of hope and opportunity for the refugee and migrant population in Brazil. It is an excellent example of how the private sector can fully support the protection of refugees: from emergency reception and humanitarian assistance to social and labor inclusion. Refugees arrive here with an enormous capacity to contribute in all spheres, and recognizing this means offering the opportunities they need to start over”, added Samantha Federici, Head of Private Sector Partnerships at UNHCR Brazil
