2023 has come to an end – and with landmark moments for the entertainment industry such as the actors and screenwriters’ strike, which delayed Hollywood’s entire release schedule. But here we are, again with everything in full swing. And like every year, I took into account in my list of best films and series, the fact that the content premiered in Brazil in 2023. In other words, many films from the 2023 Oscars, which were already on American critics’ lists last year , they only made it onto my list this year, after all, you only saw them this year. Of course, here I’m only talking to people who, like me, don’t watch pirated content.
Cinema
Speaking of cinema – in no particular order. Among the films that were in the last awards season, I included Babilnia e The Fabelmans. They were well forgotten at the awards time, but they are here on my list. There are super productions too. case of Barbie is the new Misso Impossvel. There are also films that debuted directly on streaming, in the case of Air: The Story behind the logo and independent film Growing Together. And of course, there are those productions that will definitely be in the 2024 Awards Season. Here I’m talking specifically about Os Flower Moon Assassins e Maestro. And I can’t forget titles that will probably only be on my list (lol): Wonka e The killer.
I also want to leave an honorable mention for some Brazilian films. I saw good things this year. Among them, my highlights, for totally different genres, go to Musmus O Filmis, Lost, e The hijacking of Flight 375.

And between the series. So many debuted, and I saw so few… But even so, here are my favorites, also in no order of preference. Apple TV Plus killed it. On my list there are One This de Qumica, The Buccaneers, e Divine Drops. Do Star Plus, tem Only Murders in the Building, that even with an inferior season, it’s still great. Same case of Lupin, and the last season of The Crown, both from Netflix. From HBO Max, it has the best The Golden Age (which has just been renewed). And from Paramount Plus, there is Travel Companions e 1923. And finally, there is also Daisy Jones and the Six, da Prime Video.
