According to a digital survey produced by the Samba Digital agency, the Flamengo closed the season with 778 million interactions on Instagram in 2023, and with that, it became the seventh club with the most interactions among the main football clubs on the planet. Rubro-Negro’s performance allowed it to end the season with a better performance than global brand clubs, such as Paris Saint-Germain (FRA) and Liverpool FC (ING).
And the good news doesn’t stop there. O Fluminensechampion of the Copa Libertadores da América and runner-up of the FIFA Club World Cup in 2023, became the club with the greatest engagement in the Instagram, a social network that has the highest percentage of content consumption among social networks. With 37.5% engagement, Tricolor beat Galatasaray (TUR), a club that has one of the most fanatical follower bases in the world of football.
For those who are not familiar with social media terms, engagement rate, in short, means the rate of interactions of followers of a given account. This same rate can be used as a criterion for followers’ satisfaction in relation to the content posted.
Crown
In general numbers, Real Madrid (ESP) was the club that received the most interactions throughout 2023. The Madrid club reached the mark of 2.5 billion interactions throughout the season.
Intruders
Just like Flamengo, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr (SAU) is the other “intruder” outside of Europe among the Top 10 clubs with the most interactions throughout the season.
Emerging
Al Nassr (SAU) and Inter Miami CF (USA), with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, were the 2nd and 3rd clubs that gained the most new followers in 2023, respectively. There are no Brazilians in the Top 10.
Brazilians active on networks
Of the 10 clubs with the most posts on Instagram, six are Brazilian: Flamengo, Corinthians, Fluminense, Santos, Vasco and So Paulo. The club that posted the most was Manchester City, with almost 900 more posts than Flamengo, the second club that posted the most.
If, on the one hand, clubs post a lot, Brazilians also interact a lot with clubs. Of the 10 teams with the highest engagement rates, seven are Brazilian: the leader Fluminense, in addition to Botafogo, Vasco, Fortaleza (runner-up of South American 2023), and the trio from São Paulo: So Paulo, Corinthians and Palmeiras.
