The year 2023 was marked by a series of campaigns and innovative actions in Shopee, marketplace that connects sellers, brands and consumers. With this in mind, the platform carried out a survey of users’ shopping habits throughout the year. The results revealed a significant increase in the use of PIX as a payment option, with a 60% increase in usage compared to 2022.
More than 50% of purchases used this method. Furthermore, consumers purchased more from local retailers (more than 90% of the platform’s sales). Brazilian sellers had a 30% increase in orders and the Official Stores section, dedicated to big brands, sold around 170% more than last year.
Brazilians’ favorites in 2023
When looking at the most popular products among consumers, the top 5 best-selling items were: headphones, smartphonesmart watch, hair clipper and video game.
In terms of searches carried out by users, the platform identified which words remained among the most searched for the longest time. Women’s sneakers and boots were in the top 5 for more than 100 days. Women’s paper and school supplies were also recurring for 50 days on average. Another item that stood out a lot in research in the marketplace it was the fan, which did not appear in the 2022 ranking and was among the 5 most searched products in 2023.
Live commerce e shows no app
In addition to the traditional double date campaigns and benefits for users, the platform surprised consumers and offered a complete sales tool for sellers with Shopee Lives in 2023. There were more than 11 thousand lives and more than a million hours of transmission , presentation of artists such as Wanessa, Marcos & Belutti, and exclusive broadcast of Numanice da Ludmilla directly from the application. In total, Shopee Lives have already received more than 260 million views and more than 4 billion likes since the launch of the feature last year
Users had access to additional benefits such as discount and free shipping coupons, Shopee Coins, special prizes and sweepstakes. Among the most purchased products on broadcasts are the PlayStation PS5 and the Nintendo Switch, in addition to smartphones.
