Duo, the famous Duolingo owl, decided to “invade” the beaches of Rio de Janeiro to remind both locals and tourists to do the app’s lessons during the rest period of their summer holidays.
At the beginning of January, the platform printed some characteristic elements of Rio de Janeiro, such as banners on planes flying over the beaches, in addition to distributing Duo costumes to some cotton candy sellers, temporary tattoos with a Duolingo theme, sand sculptures, fans and others.
In addition, the app is also counting on the help of Jojo Todynho to promote his own “tanning salon” with duct tape.
In partnership with Rica Bronze, the app set up a temporary salon, where students who were up to date with their offensives could receive free tanning sessions with green tape.
Furthermore, the campaign message will be reinforced with the activation of digital influencers such as Theodoro, Lara Santana and Bomtalvo.
“We know that one of the secrets to the success of any learning journey is consistency. That’s why we sent the Duo to spend the summer in Rio, and, in a fun way, remind our students to keep up to date with their lessons, even during cold”, said Analigia Martins, marketing director at Duolingo in Brazil.
The #VeroCombinaComLio campaign was created by Jotacom and will be promoted on Duolingo Brasil’s social networks throughout the month of January.
