Restaurant chain converts Bloomin Onion’s net sales into resources to make children’s dreams come true.
Facing a serious illness during childhood is a great challenge. To help bring more lightness to this moment, the Outback it’s atMake-A-Wish Brazil comes together to hold another edition of Bloomin Day on January 24th, Wednesday. On this day, all net sales of the Bloomin Onion, the famous giant, golden onion from the Outback, go towards making the dreams of children and teenagers with serious illnesses come true.
This is our sixth year of partnership with Make-A-Wish Brasil, an institution that carries a very noble mission, with a beautiful purpose and does serious and exciting work with children and teenagers. It is part of our culture to contribute to society and seeing the sparkle in the eyes of children who have their dreams come true through Bloomin Day is something that fills us with hope and joy. This year, our goal is to surpass the mark of previous years and make, together, the largest donation in our history, says Mauro Guardabassi, president of Bloomin Brands, the holding company that owns the Outback, Abbracio and Aussie brands in Brazil.
To participate and collaborate with the cause, consumers can purchase Bloomin Onion at the restaurant’s physical units or Bloom Petals through the brand’s delivery. The donation to Make-A-Wish Brasil is only valid on January 24th.
You can also advance your donation by purchasing a special gift certificate made for Bloomin Day worth R70.00 or more, through the giftcard purchases page on the Outback website. All of this income will also be donated to the institution, in addition to being a way of giving a gift to someone close to you and inviting them to participate in this important cause.
Long-time partner
The union between the restaurant and the non-profit organization began in 2017 and has seen more than 152 dreams come true since then. In 2023, the biggest Bloomin Day in history since the beginning of the partnership between Outback and Make-A-Wish Brasil took place, with 44 dreams come true.
Last year, Elisa was one of the children who saw her dream come true through this partnership. Diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, the 9-year-old girl dreamed of being a model. The restaurant and the institution collaborated to provide her with a day at one of the largest modeling agencies in Brazil, where she could learn more about the profession. Furthermore, Outback created a special catwalk so she could parade at the Bloomin Brands Brasil office, experiencing the emotion of parading for the first time. Since then, Elisa has built a career in the field she wanted so much.
The partnership with Outback is solid and consistent, as we share unique values, and everyone who participates in the campaign feels the energy we put into the project. In addition to Bloomin Day, the result of which accounts for more than 15% of the dreams realized by Make-A-Wish Brasil during the year, Bloomin Brands plays an important role in our children’s dream journeys, providing unique experiences in its restaurants. We are very grateful for the opportunity and feel honored to share our mission with a company that is synonymous with excellence in hospitality and consumer experience. This is what makes this campaign a success every year, comments Thais Bernardini, executive director of Make-A-Wish Brasil.
