The trailer gave some talk on social media, mainly because of the rumors surrounding the film and the confirmation of new characters that the video brought. The main point to be raised in relation to the film so far is the return of Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier, the classic character of the X-Men franchise.
The actor had already played the character in the first films of the franchise at the beginning of the century and had made his last appearance in 2017, in the film Logan. In the trailer, you can see a little of the character’s head from behind, in addition to Xavier’s own voice, who talks to Doctor Strange.
Still, Patrick Stewart may not be the only one to return after a year to the world of superheroes. The title of the film itself, “Multiverse of Madness”, indicates that there is a lot of new stuff out there. In the latest Spider-Man movie, we discover that anything is possible in different realities.
Many rumors point to a series of cameos from actors who played Marvel characters in films outside the so-called “MCU”. Among the most talked about are Nicolas Cage in the role of Ghost Rider and the main actors who formed the Fantastic Four in the 2005 film.
Tom Cruise is also being talked about a lot on social media as a possible Doctor Strange cameo in the Multiverse of Madness. Cruise’s character would be Tony Stark, the Iron Man. The theory is no accident, as the actor nearly played the character in 2008, before Robert Dowey Jr. was cast.
The trailer also hints that some other fan theories were right. Among them, that Wanda, the Scarlet Witch, would be the main threat of the film. The last time the character appeared before Doctor Strange was in her own series, WandaVision, which ended up leaving her future open.
Marvel also released a new poster for the film on their Instagram, check it out:
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be directed by Sam Raimi, known for franchises such as Evil Dead and the classic Spider-Man trilogy. The film opens in Brazilian cinemas on May 5th.
