A Uber just launched or Uber Cast, headquarters videocast which, in addition to debating the company’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives in building a safer platform for everyone, invites experts to bring their views on the topics that will be covered during the season.
The program, unprecedented in Brazil, is divided into five episodes and features the participation of company executives and views from partner drivers and platform users.
Episodes will be released weekly on Uber’s YouTube channel, Spotify, CastBox, Amazon Music, Deezer, Google podcasts and Apple podcast. Each episode is around 50 minutes long, and covers topics such as Security, Violence Against Women, Racism, LGBTQIAPN+phobia, Ableism and Accessibility. The conversations will be led by Letcia Vidica, a journalist with more than 18 years of experience and experience at Globo and CNN.
In the first two episodes, the debate addresses the context of public security in Brazil and the scope of technology to mitigate challenges; the importance of diversity and inclusion for Uber, the commitment to women’s safety and the alleged “gas scam”.
According to Silvia Penna, general director of Uber in Brazil, the initiative aims to collaborate in the construction of an increasingly safe and inclusive platform.
“It’s not enough to look at technology just as a facilitator of our lives. We need to go further and find solutions that promote safety and respect among the people who use our platform every day. These are current issues in society and they are also reflected in our app”, she explains.
Special appearances
Experts on the topics covered in each episode were invited: Samira Bueno, sociologist and executive director of the Brazilian Public Security Forum; Isabela del Monde, lawyer and coordinator of the Uber and Me Too Brasil partnership; Benilda Brito, CEO of Mcua Consultoria and consultant for UN Women and the Global Compact; Pri Bertucci, executive producer of the São Paulo Trans Pride March and CEO of Diversity BBOX; Maria Clara Arajo, researcher Specialist in Afro-Latin American and Caribbean Studies; Katya Hemelrijk, CEO at Talento Inclusive consultancy; and Thiago Pereira, general manager of Instituto Adimax, Social Program for guide dogs and assistance dogs.
