Agreement with the TSE also provides for the release of access to the application programming interface (API) of the Facebook Ads Library

As part of this process, Meta, owner of Facebook and Instagram, announced that the two social networks will have a whistleblower channel dedicated to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
According to the statement, when a report is received, the company will review it and, if the content violates the platforms’ policies, it will be removed. The functioning and final scope of the platform still needs to be defined between the company and the public authority.
Another initiative foreseen in the agreement with the TSE is the release of access to the application programming interface (API) of the Facebook Ads Library, where active and inactive sponsored content about elections or politics on Facebook and Instagram is located.
With authorization, court teams will be able to learn about the data available in the Ad Library, including range of amounts paid, total impressions, and ad serving dates.
There are also actions such as labels in posts about elections, feature active since December; polling day reminder in feed; training for electoral authorities, with seminars for TSE and Regional Electoral Courts (TREs) employees and the production of educational booklets; and a new version of the “Guia de Mulheres na Política”, which will have the help of the TSE in the dissemination and distribution.
the other network
Recently, in a meeting between Minister Luís Roberto Barroso, president of the TSE, and Will Cathcart, leader of WhatsApp, another network owned by Meta, it was agreed that the app will also have a whistleblower channel, with the aim of finding suspicious accounts of mass shootings, an action not permitted by electoral legislation and the application’s Terms of Service.
The agreement with the TSE also provides for the creation of a virtual court assistant in the messaging app to help communicate with voters and facilitate access to information and services.
