Partnership with packaging solutions company generates sustainable and durable boxes for the brand’s glasses.
A Chilli Beans, the largest chain specializing in sunglasses in Latin America, has been focusing on strategies in recent years to achieve its objective of becoming the largest sustainable eyewear brand in the world. Today, 20% of the glasses sold by the company are made with sustainable material and the cases now make up 100% of the portfolio.
Launched in 2021 as another of the themed collections created by the brand throughout the year, the Chilli Beans ECO collection, produced only with recycled raw materials, such as meadow grass, recyclable acrylic, biodegradable acetate and waste removed from the bottom of the ocean, has become part of the company’s fixed portfolio, and can be found at any time of the year, mixing fashion, sustainability and quality
To emphasize Chilli Beans’ sustainable commitment, a partnership was formed withAntilles, a company recognized for its pioneering spirit in bringing innovations and packaging solutions to its customers, so that all eyeglass cases were produced with recyclable material, whether they are from the ECO collection or not. All of the company’s efforts have been recognized by the WorldStar Award, an initiative of the World Packaging Organization (WPO) that annually recognizes the best packaging designs globally, representing a significant contribution to the global packaging design community.
We are very happy and honored with this award, as it is recognition of the investment we have been making for years in research and studies to bring sustainable and quality materials to the market. It is essential to count on the help of partners who help us achieve these goals and realize this dream of becoming the largest sustainable eyewear brand in the world, says Caito Maia, founder of Chilli Beans.
The packaging is produced entirely from paper and replaces conventional materials, with 65% post-consumer recycled material in its total composition. Developed by Antilhas Embalagens & Solues, the product stands out for its durability and reusability. Weight was also reduced by 53%, without compromising quality.
Reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and innovation, we seek to develop packaging with a longer useful life, generating a positive impact on reducing waste and conserving natural resources. This means that the Chilli Beans customer can continue to use the packaging even after purchase, whether to store the product safely or for other purposes, contributing to reducing the environmental impact, explains Bruno Baptista, General Director of Antilhas.
