Initiative will initially focus on creatives, but has plans to expand to other areas
Hugo Nery, writer at Lew’Lara, and Will Rodrigues, art director at MGNT, announced the launch of the Talenton portal, a database of professionals with disabilities (PCDs) that, at first, will only focus on creatives.
The idea arose from data from the Diversity Observatory, which showed that only 1.6% of workers in the advertising market are PCDs.
“I’m a PCD and I’ve always been bothered about not seeing other PCDs in the agencies I’ve been to. The objective is to be a database where creative professionals can register and whoever is looking to hire a PCD can find it,” said Nery.
The executive also highlighted that Taleton plans to expand the database to other areas such as media, planning, customer service and others. “We are also working to make the website 100% adapted for people with visual impairments”, he added.
For the launch, creatives write a letter announcing and explaining the project. Read in full:
“TALENTON is more than an initiative. It is a dream and a fight to have more people with disabilities in advertising agencies and in all other areas of this Creative Market. Because in this market many concepts are created and pre-concepts destroyed. Furthermore, in a market that the more repertoire of life, the more good idea, no one will have the same repertoire as these people.
You can evaluate and rate portfolios. It just can’t be d. There is a lot of talent here, but few people. So, if you know someone with PWD who works in this area, share it.
In the near future, we want to expand into other areas, in addition to entering universities, colleges and courses to help train new creatives.”
