O Google decided to stop its Artificial Intelligence tool responsible for generating images after users reported distortions and inaccuracies in historical representations created by the system. This functionality was launched at the beginning of this month and is part of the GeminiGoogle’s AI, which competes with other platforms such as ChatGPT.
“We are aware that Gemini is offering inaccuracies in some historical image generation representations,” said Google this Wednesday (21).
When the company launched its chatbot Bard Last year, inaccurate images of a planet outside the solar system were shown in a promotional video, causing shares to fall as much as 9% at the time. Bard was revamped as Gemini this month, when Google announced paid plans for the tool, which, in theory, would improve the customer experience, with a more trained system.
“Historical contexts are more nuanced and we will adjust further to accommodate that,” said Jack Krawczyk, senior director of Gemini Products at Google, also on Wednesday.
This disruption highlights the challenges companies face in developing AI technologies, especially when it comes to ensuring proper accuracy and context. Since the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in November 2022, Google has been working hard to produce a software of AI that rivals what the company, backed by Microsoft, presented, and which currently dominates the market.
