From next March 8th, the Texan city of Austin, in the United States, will host South by Southwest (SXSW), the largest creative economy festival in the world, which hopes to break all participant records in its 37-year history .
The number of Brazilians who will occupy the stages at the event draws attention. There will be 50 Brazilian artists, creators, professionals and leaders giving presentations on the future of culture, technology and business in different sessions and multiple formats.
The SXSW organization expects to bring together more than 100,000 participants over the nine days of the event, which will feature more than 5,000 activities and 24 themed lecture tracks. The topics under debate range, among others, from artificial intelligence to climate change, from new directions in design and politics to short, medium and long-term technological trends.
The indigenous leader and activist Txai Suru, the musicians Marcelo D2, Bia Ferreira, Dend & Band, the president of the Albert Einstein hospital, Sidney Klajner and the film directors Carolina Markowicz and Srgio Galvo Roxo, will be some of the Brazilian highlights in Texas.
Instituto CESAR is a finalist for the Innovation Awards, for its simultaneous sign language translator and is also competing in the EDU SXSW Challenge, a competition included in the educational branch of the event. In the second case, through the Faa Parte initiative, a new proposal to learn and develop technology at school that was born from the action of high school students.
Several Brazilian brands will also play a leading role in Austin. Ita will be the main sponsor of the event while the São Paulo government will set up a Casa So Paulo in front of the Centro de Convenes. Embraer will have its own space to showcase its advances in the area of electric aerial vehicles (eVTOL).
