The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) revealed a record investment of around R$25 million for the 2024 edition of the Neoenergia Women’s Brazilian Championship, marking a significant commitment to strengthening women’s football in the country.
“We are going to make a historic investment. We made a substantial increase in quotas and prizes, we will increase investment in arbitration, we will have VAR from the quarter-finals onwards, and we will cover the logistics of all teams, among other investments”, highlighted Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the entity.
The CBF’s main objective is to further strengthen Brazilian women’s football. Rodrigues highlighted the intention to invest in the qualification of all aspects of women’s football, from players to managers, doctors, coaches and referees. The expectation is to make a significant leap in quality in the coming years.
The 2024 edition of the Neoenergia Women’s Brazilian Championship will feature the participation of 16 clubs and will begin on March 17th, with the final scheduled for September 22nd, providing more than six months of competition.

In the first phase, each team will receive R$300,000, while the eight classified for the second phase will win R$100,000. The four semi-finalists will receive an additional R$100,000. In total, the CBF will distribute R$6 million in quotas to the teams.
The prize pool will also reach a record level, with the champion pocketing R$1.5 million and the runner-up, R$750 thousand. The total prize pool will reach almost R$2.3 million, representing an increase of 25% compared to 2023.
The CBF will assume all arbitration costs and implement VAR in all matches from the quarter-finals onwards. Furthermore, in the 2024 edition, the entity will cover expenses related to transportation, logistics and control anti-doping.
“The intention is to make the competition even more attractive to new sponsors and the public. Our mission is to make women’s football stronger and stronger in our country”, concluded the CBF president.
