Cristina Alvarenga will lead the business for Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, in addition to Brazil
Cristina Alvarenga was named the new head of grocery & retail for Uber in Latin America. At Uber since 2020, Cristina now leads the Market and Retail business for Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, in addition to Brazil, some of the largest markets for the platform.
In Latin America, the area’s main mission is to intermediate different delivery options for Uber users, from grocery shopping to convenience items and pharmacies. Between the years 2021 and 2023, Market and Retail, a part of Uber’s global Delivery segment, grew twice around the world.
Cristina has experience in business intelligence, sales, management and marketing, having worked for companies such as Nielsen, Avon, Thomson Reuters and Grupo Abril, and has a degree in Economics from Unicamp and an MBA from BSP (Business School of So Paulo), with an extensive degree in Toronto, Canada.
“Uber’s Market and Retail arm has experienced substantial growth in the region, which shows that we are moving in the right direction. In 2024, we want to offer even more options for our Latin American users to make everyone’s routine even easier,” said the executive.
