Registration is now open for the new edition of the Stories x Women program, an initiative created by Women in Animation (WIA) in collaboration with the International Federation of Cinema Producers Associations (FIAPF), and with the support of The Walt Disney Company Latin America. Women, non-binary people and transgender women who have animation projects ready can register on site and WIA until March 17th to compete for the opportunity to present them at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, in June 2024.
In its third consecutive year, Stories x Women continues its commitment to promoting the diversity of voices in the animation industry worldwide. The focus of this edition is to support and provide opportunities for women, non-binary people and transgender women from emerging communities in Latin America, Africa and Asia who want to tell their stories.
This initiative is also part of Disney’s Future Storytellers commitment, which provides inspiration and training to people from underrepresented groups who will be future professionals in the creative industry, promoting the development of diverse talents in industry-related disciplines, to count more and more representative, authentic and genuine stories that reflect the diversity of the world around us.
Stories x Women offers a unique platform for up to 5 teams of 2 people. Selected individuals will receive mentoring and training sessions with animation leaders from different countries, preparing them to present their projects at the prestigious Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2024. Additionally, travel, accommodation and accreditation expenses will be covered by WIA.
Marge Dean, president of the WIA, expressed her enthusiasm.
The WIA has worked to recognize creative people in animation for the past 30 years. As we approach the third year of the Stories x Women program, we are excited to continue our commitment to supporting deserving female creators and providing them with the tools and support to tell their authentic stories, Dean.
In the first two years, teams led by women from more than two dozen countries submitted their applications to the Stories x Women program, from which 11 delegations were chosen representing a dozen countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru and the Republic Dominican, in Latin America; and who praised the program, highlighting their valuable learning and the opportunity to present their projects in Annecy.
Other information in Official website of the WIA. The deadline for submitting applications is March 17, 2024. It is a requirement that whoever signs up has a good command of English.
