The date for the release of Passionate In the cinema it is very easy to understand. The film premiered this week in cinemas, in other words, right when International Women’s Day is celebrated. Passionate A national romantic comedy, starring Giovanna Antonelli. The story goes very well while assuming itself as a comedy. When it starts to move towards drama in the second part, it is not so successful.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The script is based on the book In love at 40, by Cris Souza Fontes. The plot tells the story of Beatriz (Giovanna Antonelli), a 40-year-old woman who realizes how monotonous her life is. After some shocking events in her personal life, she finds herself desperate and facing an identity crisis. From then on, Beatriz decides to begin an exciting journey of self-discovery that takes her close to all the passions that life has to offer.
What did I find?
Giovanna Antonelli is an extremely charismatic actress. You keep your eyes glued to it even when the material isn’t that good. She even breaks down the fourth wall on several occasions, which gives her more complicity with the public. In the first part of the film, when Beatriz finds herself alone and separated, it is delightful to see moments of her discovery, especially of flirting. And in my favorite scene, when out of nowhere she cuts her bangs. Anyone who has never done something crazy with their hair should cast the first stone, lol.
The whole problem with the film begins in the second part when the drama of discovery begins. And the question of getting back together or not getting back together with your husband is done by Danton Mello, who like most men, doesn’t really know what he wants, lol. It gets tiring, with the shallow considerations of moving forward or not, and still trying to understand your own head. We come to the conclusion that Beatriz has too much time to analyze her feelings. The film initially shows her as a confectioner (with the participation of my dear Samanta Quadrado), but that’s it.
The rest of the cast doesn’t have much to do. The friend made by Polly Marinho is interesting, has a talent for comedy. Jonas Bloch, as Beatriz’s father, has good moments, but appears little. The film has beautiful scenes in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.
And the interview…
In the end, honestly, I thought she was too good an actress for a character that could have been much more fun. And consequently for a more fun film. Anyway, it was a great pleasure to talk to Giovanna about her career, next chapters and even retirement. See below…
