Signs with phrases like “Don’t doubt if even Joana Anglica has already been called ‘Crazy'” highlight the historical use of the term as a way of discrediting women.
In addition to Ipanema, the signs can be seen at addresses such as Clarice ndio do Brasil and Dona Mariana, in Botafogo, Anita Garibaldi, in Copacabana, Nair Belo, in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, and Dandara dos Palmares, in Jacarepagu, among others.
