In a post on Twitter, former Flow presenter accused the platform of ‘political persecution’
Former Flow Podcast host, Monark claimed to be suffering ‘political persecution’ from YouTube, which, according to him, banned him from having a new channel on the platform. “They (YouTube Brasil) banned me from creating a new channel so I could continue my life, powerful people want to destroy me. Freedom of expression is dead,” he wrote on Twitter.
Monark posted the email he received from YouTube, in which the platform claims to be concerned about ‘the statements related to Nazism (…), which can cause significant harm to the community’.
The network also informed that, ‘thus, we have concluded by suspending monetization of its Monark channel. Once this measure is applied, you will no longer have access to the functionality and monetization tools’.
YouTube has yet to officially comment on the case.
Last week, Monark was involved in a controversy that cost him his departure from Flow. During an interview with federal deputies Kim Kataguiri (Podemos) and Tabata Amaral (PSB), he defended the existence of a Nazi party in Brazil.
Among the comments, Monark said “I think the Nazi party had to be recognized by law”, “within the [liberdade de] expression we want to release everything” and “if the guy wants to be an anti-Jew, I think he had the right to be”.
