Work was done for the Zero Racism program, at Universidade Zumbi dos Palmares
a fact that, unfortunately, has already become routine in Brazil: scenes of black people being humiliated in stores by having their bags searched under accusations of theft. But starting this Thursday (21st), International Day Against Racial Discrimination, an action created by Gray Brasil for Zero Racism, a program created by Universidade Zumbi dos Palmares, will make society aware of this type of crime.
The text of Law 14,532/2023, which provides for 2 to 5 years in prison and a fine for anyone who embarrasses, humiliates or commits crimes of racism or racial insult, will become a label to be affixed to bags.
Stylist Naya Violeta was invited to create the design of the first Anti-Racist Bag, distributed by personalities who will amplify the subject in their networks. Thousands of labels with the law will also be distributed to be placed inside the bags of women who face this type of embarrassment.
The action begins to come to life with the release of a video in which Naya Violeta talks about the creation of the scholarship and the importance of the project for raising awareness about the law.
“This material will show Naya’s creative process and how she designed the accessory. Some influencers will receive a unit of this bag and will also comment on the action on their social networks, expanding the debate and inviting designers from other brands to join the movement. Thus, a large current takes shape, expanding knowledge about the Zero Racism program”, explains Manir Fadel, CCO and CEO of Grey.
