Easter is coming, and next Sunday (31st) is the famous chocolate egg exchange day. Buying chocolates for Easter is a tradition that has become a symbol of the Christian holiday. And of course, there is always that person who leaves to buy the eggs at the last minute, on the same day or a few days before. Even consumers’ interest in subjects related to Easter was not suddenly noticed.
This year, the movement in search of gifts grew by 98% in the week of March 24th to 27th, when compared to the first week of the month, according to data from Buscap. However, this custom can have consequences on your pocket, as Easter eggs have been 38% more expensive in recent weeks. The price of products in the week before Easter is R$104.00, while in the first week of March eggs cost, on average, R$75.00.
The price also changes over the years. In 2023, in the week before the date, the price was R$67.00 and in 2022, the median price was R$54.00. Another survey by Ecglobal showed that the majority of consumers (55%) want to spend between R$100.00 and R$300.00 on purchases, distributing the amount across various items such as eggs, truffles and chocolates, in 2024.
Most searched brands
SoluCX, a leading company in satisfaction and NPS research, also carried out a study to understand the main consumption habits and purchasing intentions of consumers in relation to Easter eggs.
Cacau Show eggs, for the second consecutive year, were the most desired among consumers (33.8%). Brands such as Nestl (25.6%), Lacta (19.5%), Garoto (9.2%) and Ferrero Rocher (5.6%) were also mentioned by respondents.
In the last 40 days, the most searched, respectively, are: Cacau Show, with more than 8 million consumer searches and growth of 113%; Lacta, with just over 826 thousand searches, followed by Chocolates Brasil Cacau, with 480 thousand; Boy, with almost 350 thousand; Lindt, with just over 205 thousand; and Kopenhagen, with more than 200 thousand online searches.
The survey also revealed that for consumers, the quality and flavor of Easter eggs (38.8%) are more relevant than the price (24.9%). However, the cost of the product is the main factor for 76.5% of respondents not purchasing the item. The reasons for buying vary among consumers: 62.9% said it was because they liked chocolate, 19.5% said it was a gift for family or friends and 10.5% said it was a tradition.
Gifts and surprises in eggs motivate 25% of choices, while nutritional factors and packaging account for 16% and 28% respectively.

Air tickets, hotels and pet products at Easter
In addition to traditional chocolate, a survey by Admitad identified growth of 213% in the toy sector, 80% in air transport and 116% in accommodation during the festive period.
Spending during the holiday also extends to pets. That’s because Easter eggs for dogs are a hit. Toys related to the theme, such as rabbit plush toys and carrot-shaped teethers, also contributed to this growth in sales during the period.
