The Bank reinforces its commitment to sport and education by providing unique opportunities for young talents.
In the year of the centenary of Ita Unibanco celebrated its 17-year partnership with the Miami Open with the renewal of the contract until 2028. To mark the date in style, the bank launched a new tradition at the tournament, which was held for the first time in the history of tennis and will last for upcoming editions of the Miami Open: the inaugural serve, called Serves of the Future. The person chosen to achieve this milestone was the young tennis player Rafael Padilha, an athlete from the social project Rede Tnis Brasil, an initiative supported by the bank. The first serve took place during the Miami Open at Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins.
Born in Vila Kadi, Porto Alegre, Padilha is 18 years old and began his tennis journey at the age of nine. His first contact with the sport happened through the Rede Tnis Brasil project. The oldest in a family of eight siblings, the athlete is now preparing to win a scholarship at North American universities, a goal that will be achieved through sport and education incentives strengthened by the social project.
In 2023, also through Rede Tnis Brasil, Padilha visited behind the scenes and trained on the courts of the Miami Open, and had the opportunity to meet his main idols, including Carlos Alcaraz, current number 2 in the world and protagonist of the Ita Personnalit campaign. ; and Brazilians Bia Haddad Maia, sponsored by the bank since 2022, and Thiago Andrade. In this year’s edition, the young man was not only part of the tournament’s historic moment, but also had the chance to counter shots with another idol: Ronaldo (former football player and number 9).
And to immortalize Saque do Futuro, the action created and orchestrated in partnership with the agency GALERIA .ag, also includes a film from the 60s that can be seen below:
We believe that sport has the power to transform people’s lives and, therefore, it is such a strong pillar of action at Ita. Our support ranges from projects that use sport as a means of developing Brazilian children and young people, to those with focus on high performance, like the Miami Open. Among the social actions supported, we have Rede Tnis Brasil, Bola Dentro, Instituto Guga Kuerten and Tnis para Todos Paraispolis. We are proud to also be alongside the talented Brazilian tennis player Bia Haddad Maia since 2023, demonstrating our commitment to contributing to the growth of the category in the country and promoting the development of young athletes, says Eduardo Tracanella, Marketing Director at Ita Unibanco.
