The Paris 2024 Olympic Games have everything to be one of the most special of all time. For the third time, the French capital hosts the main sporting event on the planet, the last was exactly 100 years ago, and the Sportv launched during the break of the friendly match between England and Brazil, a manifesto film that features the participation of the rapper Emicidal and one of his most famous compositions.
Sixteen years after composing 'Triunfo', the artist sees his music serve as a source of inspiration for the Olympic Games on Sportv. Under the concept 'This is Our World', the material brings the singer's evocation to the Olympic spirit, the call to enter this universe of victories and overcoming, with images that represent the enchantment provided by stories that are told every four years and awaken the best of us.
The lyrics of 'Triunfo' were born at a time when the rapper was involved in a sequence of victories in traditional MC battles.
The song talks about overcoming adversity, about winning and making history. I think all athletes go to an Olympic competition with that same spirit. That's why I'm very happy to see this music reach this place, because many times a series of athletes were my inspiration and reference. There is another thing that I think is the most beautiful thing about sport, which is the question of finding a barrier, bringing together the best you have, dedicating yourself and overcoming it. Everyone in life encounters situations of this type of adversity. And I think that's why we become so obsessed with following an athlete's trajectory, because in a short space of time, what he does there is what we would like to do every day: overcome the barrier and be better and bigger than the others. our problem, Emicida highlights.
During the Games, Sportv will have four channels broadcasting the competitions, one of them in 4K, showing 100% of everything that is happening at the Paris Games, in addition to having a large team of experts gathered to tell more about this remarkable chapter in history. of the sport, which has the opening ceremony scheduled to take place on July 26th and run until August 11th. How does it feel to have your song as the soundtrack for a call from a channel that will show the main sporting event on the planet?
“In the last Olympics I wasn’t in Brazil. I was in Portugal and the transmission there was very different. Brazilian transmission energy is very different from the rest of the planet. I wanted to watch it with the emotion of the Brazilian broadcast because I am passionate about the Olympics. And outside of Brazil, the guys narrate with more coldness. I just thought I needed to see it again with the passion of a Brazilian speaking. So I'm very happy to be able to have a song of my own that talks about conquest, about winning in some way, and that allows me to participate in this moment that is so important to me.”
What is your connection with sport?
“Speaking of sports, I don’t have the habit of practicing as much as I should. But I love exercising, I really like cycling and running. But I'm not a professional like my partner Rael, who runs 42 kilometers. At seven, I am already satisfied, thanking God for another day. But I like it a lot.”
How does Emicida watch the Olympic Games?
“Noisy. In the last one there was a Portuguese girl who placed well in the triple jump (Patrcia Mamona, silver medalist). I watched the last broadcast in Portugal and the guys were restrained, they didn't vibrate. I just thought: I need to go back to Brazil for the next Olympics. I prefer to see it from here, even than in Paris, because the energy here is very powerful, bro.”
What is your message of support and encouragement to Brazilian athletes who will compete in Paris?
“All my brothers and sisters are athletes. We are here with body, soul, mind and heart vibrating, sending the best energies to each one of you. More than the medal, may you make us proud on each occasion in which you strive and inspire. The medal is important, it’s beautiful to see you win, but your journey to get there is inspiring and makes our hearts beat faster.”
