Heineken teamed up with Le Pub, from Publicis Groupe, and Riot Game, to provide a different action in Brazil’s esports scene: supplying parts of the CBLOL arena with renewable energy.
The initiative is part of the Heineken Energia Verde program and took place in one of the main games of the Brazilian League of Legends championship, when some spaces in the arena such as the press room, fan lounge, hall of fame, VIP rooms and the co-stream broadcast were supplied with energy from the brand’s Solar Station.
“We are happy to see another innovative action from the brand, connecting Heineken and the Esports and gamer community; with sustainability and culture, through the Green Your City platform, and always reinforcing responsible consumption with Heineken 0.0”, stated Eduardo Picarelli, director of the Heineken® Business Unit in Brazil.
Additionally, Heineken also acquired renewable energy certificates, called IRECs, to complement the rest of the event.
“Clean energy is a topic that society is debating more attentively and the CBLOL audience is no different: we know it is urgent. This initiative reinforces our partnership with Heineken and draws attention to the subject in a playful and effective way”, added Diego Martinez, general manager of Riot Games.
