“Checamos” project will check content in different formats, such as text, photo and video
Philip Morris Brasil (PMB) entered into a partnership with Folha de S.Paulo to check content.
The “Checamos” project aims to combat misinformation from narratives spread on social media and will analyze posts to provide the public with updated and reliable information, based on science, on various topics, from culture to politics.
“Fighting misinformation is a core activity of journalism; combating it in times of the fake news particle accelerator that are social networks becomes imperative,” said Sérgio Dávila, Folha’s editorial director.
The initiative will verify content in different formats, such as text, photo and video, and reinforces Philip Morris’ commitment to a debate based on facts and truthful information. The checks will be housed in the Folha Informação section, where the checks carried out by the newspaper are published.
“We want readers to have access to relevant content because we are committed to science and truth”, added Fabio Sabba, director of Communications at PMB, Fabio Sabba.
Doubtful content can be sent for verification via WhatsApp 11 99581-6340 or via email at [email protected].
