A Apple it’s at Disney have come together in a new advertising commercial for ‘Star Wars Day’ (or ‘Star Wars Day’), traditionally celebrated on May 4th. The action was produced in the United States to announce the iPhone 15’s ‘Find Your Friends’ feature, which highlights the precise location functionality in crowded environments.
In the humorous film, a Star Wars fan dressed as the character Boba Fett goes to meet friends at a convention. There, he uses the phone to find the rest of his clan of Mandalorians in a space full of other costumed fans.
The three-minute ad, directed by Kim Gehrig, is full of Star Wars Easter eggs. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lucasfilm received more than 300 submissions for the commercial, which brought together a total of 172 fans involved in the production. This is the largest number of fans who have ever been to a project carried out by the company.
Star Wars Day
The origin of the celebration goes back to the informal tribute ‘May the fourth be with you’, a clever pun on the franchise’s iconic phrase, ‘May the force be with you’ (‘May the force be with you’).
The game appeared in the 1970s, shortly after the release of the first film in the saga. The term ‘May the Fourth Be With You’ began to be used by fans to celebrate the culture and legacy of Star Wars, becoming a kind of greeting among fans of the saga.
But the unofficial holiday really took off until it began to flourish on social media hashtags until the date was officially adopted by Lucasfilm, the company responsible for Star Wars. Since then, every May 4th is an opportunity for Star Wars fans to get together, watch the films, read the comics, play video games, dress up as their favorite characters and share their passion for the saga.
Star Wars Day also offers brands the opportunity to connect with the public and generate positive engagement through the creation of products and campaigns. Disney, for example, is re-releasing all nine ‘Skywalker Saga’ films in select theaters across the United States to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ‘The Phantom Menace’.
The Acolyte: the new Star Wars series.
On June 4th, the first two episodes of The Acolyte, Disney+’s new Star Wars series, premiere. The series will take place 100 years before the events seen in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. This will be the first live action in the saga to cover a period of chronology known as the High Republic.
It’s the Star Wars Renaissance, a time of prosperity in the galaxy, where peace is maintained by the Jedi Order. In the series, an investigation into a wave of crimes will lead the Jedi towards a conflict with forces much more sinister than they could have expected.
The Acolyte features a great cast, including Lee Jung-jae, Amandla Stenberg, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman and Carrie-Anne Moss. Check out the trailer.
