In general terms, the device itself is not so different from the first Playstation VR. The functionality and comfort of the first model were praised and because of that, the initial design was kept. Even so, new features were added, such as a button for adjusting the proximity of the lens to the eyes.
In addition, the device is also lighter than its predecessor, even with the addition of a motor that improves connection with the headset. The resolution of the virtual reality glasses is also highlighted, as it will run games in 4K HDR on an OLED screen. The exact resolution will be 2000×2040 per eye.
The look of the new product launched by Sony was not made without purpose. According to the brand’s senior vice president of Platform Experience, Hideaki Nishino, the appearance of the Playstation VR2 was made to follow the visual identity of the last console released by the brand, the Playstation 5, as well as other related products.
In the words of Hideaki Nishiro:
“Our goal was to create a headset that not only becomes an eye-catching part of your living room decor, but also keeps you immersed in the game world to the point where you almost forget you’re wearing it. That’s why we paid close attention to ergonomics and performed extensive testing to ensure a comfortable feel for a range of head sizes.”

It is worth remembering that the Playstation VR2 will be exclusive to the Playstation 5. Despite the new information, Sony has not yet released dates for the product’s launch.
