In response to the rapid advancement of generative artificial intelligence technology and growing concerns about online misinformation and deepfakes, the TikTok will begin automatically labeling AI-generated content to promote transparency and authenticity on the platform, key elements for the TikTok community.
Platforms like TikTok, Meta, X e YouTube have explored the use of generative AI to offer new tools and features to users, but also face the challenge of dealing with low-quality AI-generated content and potential abuses such as misleading deepfakes, particularly in the current election season in Brazil, the United States and other parts of the world.
In this sense, TikTok announced yesterday (9) the joining of a coalition with OpenAI e Adobe to incorporate content credentials into productions made by artificial intelligence. This measure will cover content created using Adobe’s Firefly tool, TikTok’s image generators and OpenAl’s Dall-E. The initiative, which reinforces companies’ commitment to face the challenges posed by new technologies, promises to guarantee the authenticity of the content.
In the same sense, Meta recently announced that it will mark content generated by artificial intelligence with the “Made by AI” seal, which works by detecting invisible markers placed by technology giants, such as Adobe, MicrosoftMidjourney, Google, OpenAI and others. Mark Zuckerberg’s company is also developing a system that detects and classifies deepfakes.
Despite companies’ ongoing efforts, it is important to recognize that detecting and tagging AI-generated content is a constantly evolving field, and that malicious actors may seek ways to circumvent these measures.
