In the state of Rio Grande do Sul, an emergency initiative led by volunteers is helping to help flood victims. In less than 72 hours since its launch, ‘AjudeRS’, a digital platform created by a volunteer group of professionals from the digital world, has already registered more than 2 thousand incidents and facilitated more than 500 rescues.
The idea came from urgency and the desire to help.
“On Friday night, I realized the size of the tragedy and I felt not only touched by the people, but I also worried about the animals to the point that I started looking for a plane ticket to the region. That was when Caio Kaspary, my partner, thought of a digital solution that could impact a greater number of people”, reports Thais Torres, one of the project’s creators.
Together with Pedro Elias, they began the creation and implementation of the project. With the collaboration of volunteer friends with different expertise in the digital world, they developed AjudeRS in just a few hours, a platform available 24 hours a day and accessible from any device with an internet connection.
AjudeRS has a website that records the location of people in need of rescue in map format, facilitating the coordination of rescue teams. Requests for assistance can be sent via WhatsApp, including messages, audios, photos and videos.
From this, the system automatically records each occurrence on the platform so that the AjudeRS base team takes action, ensuring that volunteers organize themselves and move in a more strategic way, optimizing response time and increasing the chances of success in the project. rescue of victims. Through the platform, volunteers can also record the location and status of people who are isolated, missing or who have already found shelter, helping rescue teams and family members in real time.
Created on an emergency basis, AjudeRS is undergoing continuous improvement and is receiving registration from volunteers from different areas and locations who are interested in collaborating with the cause. With the proportion achieved in such a short time, the objective now is that the technology developed is capable of responding to any new disasters that may occur in the country.
