Bridgerton is a delight. I really like the first two seasons. A first There are some very hot scenes, second It’s more sensual, with a sensational game of seduction. The third season is romantic. At least this first part that premiered today (16). There are 4 episodes – the rest will only premiere in June. The series focuses on the story of Penelope and Colin – and it was better than I expected.
Penelope finally gave up on her longtime crush on Colin after hearing his derogatory comments about her last season. She has decided, however, that it is time to find a husband, preferably one who offers her enough independence to pursue her life away from her mother and sisters.
But, due to a lack of confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage market fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin returns from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. However, he is determined to regain their friendship, so he offers to mentor Penelope to help her find a husband. But when his lessons start to work too well, Colin has to question whether his feelings for Penelope are really just friendship.
And what else?
This first part still shows the story of Francesca Bridgerton. Note that they changed the actress who plays the character. In the first two seasons, the character was played by Ruby Stokes. From now on, Hannah Dodd (beautiful) took on the role. She is being introduced to society, and is Queen Charlotte’s diamond of the season. But she has her own vision of this whole moment in her life. And Lady Bridgerton, as always, shows that she sees everything with her looks at her children (I love Ruth Gemmell’s work).
There is also the story of Eloise. She can’t get over the fact that Penelope is Lady Whistledown, and begins a friendship with Cressida, who has an opportunity to demonstrate that she is not as completely vain a girl as she imagined herself to be. In fact, this season pays more attention to several secondary characters. This is probably a result of the work of the new showrunner, Jesse Brownell. But of course the focus is on Penelope and Colin’s story. And a very interesting thing is that the script works in a very satisfactory way with the transformation of their friendship into passion.
I always thought Luke Newton was very weak as Colin, however his performance this season is admirable. It’s fascinating to watch how he changes after a kiss, which causes him to develop a fixation on her lips. This is when the chemistry between the two grows, exchanging glances, which will explode in the sensational carriage sequence in the fourth episode. A scene that leaves us dying to wait for the remaining episodes, which will only arrive on June 13th. Can not wait!
