Uber celebrated 10 years of operation in Brazil with new features. At an event held today (23), in São Paulo, the company announced the arrival of Uber Health and Uber Green in the country.
The company’s operation in Brazil began in 2014, in Rio de Janeiro, on the eve of the World Cup, and revealed that, since then, 125 million Brazilians have used the Uber app at least once and more than 11 billion trips have already been done.
At the event, Uber’s CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, reinforced the company’s commitment to sustainability by announcing the launch of Uber Green in Brazil. The new feature offers the option of requesting trips only with electric cars and is part of Uber’s goal of becoming a technological platform with 100% of trips with zero emissions by 2040.
Another announcement made during the event is the expansion of the taxi travel offer on the app across the country. In partnership with Stuo, trips with more than 70 thousand taxis can be requested through the Uber app across the country. “It’s true that we haven’t always had the best relationship with taxis, but those days are behind us. Uber and taxis are better together,” said Khosrowshahi.
Cristina Alvarenga, market and retail director for Latin America, announced that the company is bringing Uber Health to Brazil, as a product available exclusively via Uber for Business. This new functionality of the application allows healthcare companies, such as laboratories and hospitals, to request non-emergency trips for patients undergoing medical treatment, also allowing laboratory employees to use the option to carry out tests and administer vaccines at home. in patients. “In the beginning, Uber’s mission was to provide travel at the touch of a button. But when we look today, Uber offers, in addition to car travel, a series of solutions that make users’ lives easier and provide earning options for our partners”, said the executive.
Furthermore, Uber’s vice president of operations for Latin America, Eduardo Donnelly, announced the investment of R$1 billion over the next five years for the expansion of the Tech Center, located in São Paulo, which develops solutions for the application worldwide.
Uber took advantage of the 10th anniversary event of its operation in Brazil to honor partner drivers with the “10 Year Trophy” and the value of R$10,000 in gratitude for their preference in using the Uber app. The company intends to honor more partners by the end of the year with the trophy and promotional values of up to R$10,000.
Uber’s CEO also announced a R$10 million package in support of partner drivers affected by the tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul, in addition to more than R$1 million to support the community through the Central Única das Favelas (Cufa) and of food donations.
