We love action movies, don’t we? And there are some of them whose phrases end up becoming pop culture classics, and are always used by everyone. I have separated six of them here – and the films are available on streaming. See my suggestions – and famous phrases – here.
I will be back/ I´ll be back – Terminator
Arnold Schwarzeneger used this phrase in several films. But it all started in The Terminator, in 1984. The story takes place in the near future. The war between humans and machines has broken out. With technology at their disposal, an unusual plan is devised by the machines by sending an android (Arnold Schwarzenegger) into the past with the mission of killing the mother (Linda Hamilton) of the person who would become a leader and his worst enemy. However, humans also manage to send a representative (Michael Biehn) to protect the woman and try to guarantee the future of humanity. The film is available on Prime Video.
Bond, James Bond – The Satanic Dr. No
All of the James Bond films have used a variation of this phrase. But it was first used in The Satanic Dr. No, which is available on Apple TV and Prime for rent and purchase. James Bond (Sean Connery) investigates the disappearance of a British agent. In the midst of his investigations he discovers the hiding place of Dr. No (Joseph Wiseman), a mad genius who intends to divert the course of American rockets.
Welcome to the party, friend / Welcome to the party, pal – Hard to Kill
In this sensational film, it is the moment when John McClane speaks from the top of the building when the police officer realizes what is happening at Nakatomi Plaza. The film also has another Bruce expression that became classic: Yippee Ki-Yay! Sensational! The film, which is available on Star Plus, introduces us to John McClane (Bruce Willis). He is a detective from New York who is heading to Los Angeles to meet his wife (Bonnie Bedelia), who works at a Japanese company. However, upon arriving at the building where she works, he realizes that the building is being robbed by a group of terrorists and decides to disrupt her plans to rescue his wife.
Why did they have to be snakes?/ Why did it have to be snakes? – Raiders of the Lost Ark
Raiders of the Lost Ark, one of my favorite films, has a lot of classic moments, and identical phrases. But I love it when Indiana sees that the hole is full of snakes and says “Why did it have to be snakes?”, lol. In 1936, archaeologist Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is hired to find the Ark of the Covenant, which according to biblical scriptures would contain “The Ten Commandments” that God revealed to Moses on Mount Horeb. But as legend says that the army that possesses it will be invincible, Indiana Jones will have strong opponents in the search for the lost ark: high-ranking Nazi officers. The film is available on Paramount Plus, Disney Plus and Globoplay.
Put the bunny back in the box – Con Air: A Rota da Fuga
I love this movie. And this is a classic moment in which Nicolas Cage’s character tries to protect the stuffed bunny he intends to give as a gift to his daughter. Very good. Cameron Poe (Nicolas Cage) was released on parole and hitches a ride on a flight that transports several of the country’s criminals, including the psychopath Cyrus (John Malkovich). But what was supposed to be just a trip turns into a big nightmare because the bandits take control of the plane to leave the country and begin an insane escape plan. Now, Poe will have to pretend that he is in agreement with them to stay alive and then try to reverse the situation. The film is on Star Plus.
I have a bad feeling about this – Star Wars
Sensational phrase from Han Solo (Harrison Ford) when he, Leia and Luke are in the middle of a dump And the feeling was right, lol. In the film, young Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) dreams of going to the Academy like his friends, but finds himself involved in an intergalactic war when his uncle buys two robots. He finds a message with them from Princess Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) to the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness). Luke then joins the Jedi Knights and Han Solo (Harrison Ford), a mercenary, to try to destroy the terrible threat of the Death Star alongside members of the resistance.
