In Tokyo, a 3D digital panel spade, the beer that supports initiatives in the world of martial arts, got people talking. To announce the grand finale of ‘Spider’ in Brazil, the last time that Anderson Silva, one of the greatest MMA athletes of all time, will fight in his country, Spaten and GUT São Paulo developed an action that took to the streets of Tokyo, Japan.
So, whoever passed by the place where the athlete began to build his deep relationship with Japan, saw on the huge panel a 3D spider coming out from behind a bottle of the beer brand created in 1397. But, there are still many surprises to celebrate the triumphant exit of the legend Anderson Silva from the fight “stages”.
The big news is that Spaten will launch ‘Spaten Fight Night’, the new martial arts platform in Brazil that will promote major historic fights. The first edition of the event, with the grand finale of Spider, takes place on June 15th, at Koplexo Tempo, in São Paulo (SP). The promise is of an iconic night that will give deserved prominence to the grand finale of the Brazilian icon, combining historic confrontations and special attractions beyond the ring, all so that the public can experience a unique experience.
“Spaten is a brand that has spanned many centuries, is strong and full of history. Holding Anderson Silva’s last fight in the country where he was born is a way of celebrating the strength and legacy of Martial Arts. To mark this moment, we created iconic activations in Tokyo and here in Brazil, with media that stray from the obvious and leave a mystery of what is yet to come. And look, there are a lot of good things coming”, says Cinthia Klumpp, Marketing Director at Spaten.
Since the beginning of the year, the brand has promoted a series of actions showing that not all strength is brute and that the concept of strength can be related to strategy and mentality, just like in martial arts. The brand has been promoting the history and achievements of athletes, by showing the genuine values and philosophy of the sport that carries technique, discipline, ancestry, respect and legacy, some of the attributes of long-line beer.
Good news also comes with it: Anderson Silva is one of the most recognized athletes in the fight. A multiple champion wherever he has been, Spider has not competed since 2022. And, in Brazil, he has not fought since 2019.
Chael Sonnen is Anderson Silva’s opponent in the farewell fight
To say goodbye to the “stages”, Anderson Silva faces one of his greatest rivals with whom he starred in historic moments that sent fight fans into a frenzy: Chael Sonnen, the North American invited to face our Spider.
In a unique night, full of adrenaline and emotion, bringing together remarkable experiences and entertainment, Spaten Fight Night will reveal how the rivalry between the two athletes can be as legendary as their skills in the octagon. After two triumphs for the Brazilian in previous meetings with Sonnen, the dispute will now be in boxing, the Noble Art.
“I am very happy to be able to have my last fight in Brazil with this incredible martial athlete. I believe it will be a true epic duel of giants, two great samurai of the modern era facing each other in this historic combat. Spaten Fight Night promises to bring back unprecedented intensity to combat sports, ushering in a new era for martial arts. This is a unique opportunity to present all combat sports lovers with an unforgettable moment in my career, providing an incredible spectacle for all my fans in Brazil and around the world. I’m sure everyone will be as happy and excited as I already am”, highlights Anderson Silva.
Reliving the story of Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen, the opponent who made Spider’s career so exciting, is reliving some of the greatest clashes of the century. The rivalry between them is remembered as one of the most intense and iconic in the history of MMA. Its climax occurred in 2010 when Anderson, in the last minutes of the fifth round, achieved a surprising submission, beating Sonnen. In a second confrontation in 2012, Anderson won again, this time by technical knockout.
