Rio Grande do Sul is facing the worst climate catastrophe in the state’s history. According to a Civil Defense survey, around 149 people died and more than 100 are still missing. In total, 806 people are injured because of the storms and more than 2 million have been affected. Thousands of animals also died amid the floods. More than 10,000 have already been rescued by the Military Brigade, Civil Police and Military Fire Brigade in the state.
With this in mind, many brands are helping with resources and supporting causes and campaigns that generate income for Rio Grande do Sul, such as charity football games, shows that bring together different singers and musical styles and even lives with artists, like Zeca Pagodinho, with the participation of Alcione, Diogo Nogueira, Gilberto Gil, and others, broadcast by CazéTV. Check out some of these actions.
Heineken e Lagunitas
The brewery Lagoon and the Institute Heineken joined forces in a partnership to collect donations for animals in Rio Grande do Sul. Lagunistas sent 1 ton of food to the NGO ‘101 Vira Latas’. In addition, the companies are coordinating 15 collection points in various locations throughout the state of São Paulo, including partner bars, to collect essential products for the hygiene, health and nutrition of pets. These items include cat and dog food, sachets, bottles, gallons of water and food containers.
For every 1 kg of food donated to Lagunitas’ partner bars, the brand will double the donation. The collection points will also accept hygiene and health items (dewormer, flea medication, towels and cleaning and dressing material) and general products (collars, transport boxes, identification tags, blankets, among others).
Collection at Lagunitas’ partner bars in São Paulo is available until the end of the month, and times depend on the opening of each location. Check the addresses.

The Heineken Group has been helping the population affected by the rains in Rio Grande do Sul, mainly focused on distributing drinking water to the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre. The company also made its Beer Station (the brand’s famous mobile draft beer station) and a water truck available to take water to the locations that need it most.
Coca-Cola, Ball Corporation, Tetra Pak, Bebidas Poty, Ipiranga and AmPm
The system Coca Cola Brazil, which had already donated 500 thousand liters of water since the start of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul, announces a partnership agreement with Ball Corporation, Tetra Pak, Bebidas Poty, Ipiranga and AmPm. With this, the total donation will exceed 1 million liters of water destined for the region.
The effort is an early part of a comprehensive plan dedicated not only to immediate relief, but also to reconstruction and economic development in affected areas. To serve the community impacted by the floods, the Crystal brand will make its water available in an exclusive edition for communities in a canned version, in partnership with Ball Corporation and, in a box, in partnership with Tetra Pak. The Coca-Cola and Bebidas Poty System will be responsible for packaging and Ipiranga, with the logistical support of its AmPm convenience store network, which will distribute to the population of Rio Grande do Sul.
In partnership with the National Association of Collectors of Recyclable Materials (Ancat), the company also announced an action plan with an investment of R$500,000. The investments should impact more than 760 workers from 33 cooperatives (17 of them completely flooded), which are in Porto Alegre, Canoas, São Leopoldo, Guaiba and Novo Hamburgo, in addition to around 1500 collectors who work on the streets, especially on the islands and in northern zone of the capital of Rio Grande do Sul.
Nature
In addition to sending donations of essential items and offering medical, social and psychological support through telemedicine and a Social Center, the Nature launched a matchfunding initiative, where every real donated is doubled by the company, with the objective of reaching R$1 million by May 30th. To date, the brand has allocated more than R$10 million in essential products, such as personal hygiene items, drinking water, as well as logistical support for donations to local Civil Defense. Furthermore, another R$500,000 has already been transferred directly to Beauty Consultants in vulnerable situations.
With more than 100 thousand people in the state, including Beauty Consultants, leaders and direct and indirect collaborators, the brand has offered medical, social and psychological support through telemedicine and its Social Center. Employees from various company websites have also mobilized to offer support and have already collected more than 5 tons of clothes and blankets through an internal campaign.
Natura has also implemented a package of measures to revive the local economy, such as restocking, debt forgiveness, payment extensions, guarantee of remuneration and support for the reconstruction of stores and points of sale.
