Campaign directed by Ariela Dorf highlights aging as a privilege and the need to continue fighting epidemics.
Brazilian director Ariela Dorf, represented in the country by MyMama Entertainment, directed the French NGO’s 40th anniversary campaign AIDESwhich has been fighting for the health and rights of HIV-positive people at greater risk of HIV and Hepatitis since 1984.
Created by the STRIKE agency and produced by Voir Pictures, the campaign celebrates developments in people’s treatment and quality of life, showing aging as an achievement for thousands of immunocompromised people.
“Aging with HIV is, in fact, a privilege that not everyone shares. This represents a significant change from the early days of the epidemic, when an HIV diagnosis often meant a drastically reduced life expectancy. I saw an opportunity to create a film that authentically and sensitively addressed the beauty of aging. While aging inevitably comes with its own set of challenges, it is also one of life’s greatest privileges,” says Ariela.
At the same time that it celebrates these advances, AIDES highlights the importance of continuing to combat the HIV and Hepatitis epidemics, which despite all the tools available to doctors and organizations, have not yet been resolved.
“Overcoming these epidemics requires two essential elements that we currently lack: resources and strong political will,” explains Camille Spire, president of AIDES.
The campaign will be shown on television, online and out-of-home. The film can be watched below:
