In a powerful act of unity and resistance against racism, eleven of the biggest names in Brazilian funk and rapper Ice Blue joined the player Vini Jr. to release the song manifesto ‘Os pretos no proper place’. The initiative was designed by Rodrigo Oliveira, CEO of GR6with the support of Vivoto amplify the anti-racist fight and demonstrate solidarity with the player.
“I decided to bring together the most popular artists among the young people we have here at the GR6 casting to show solidarity and encourage Vini Jr. in this act against racism. Despite the lonely journey he is going through in Europe, here in Brazil, we know that it is a reality for many too, and this song is a reminder that he is not alone and we are moving from here to, together, fight for a cause so important”, highlights Oliveira.
The song, which features artists such as Ludmilla, MC Ryan SP, MC Livinho, MC Davi, MC Hariel, MC Don Juan and Ice Blue, from Racionais, among others, is a hymn to resistance.
“The lyrics, composed by the artists themselves, talk about the pain of discrimination, the importance of unity and the need to build a more just and egalitarian society. We brought together twelve artists, most of them black, and that made all the difference”, explains the businessman.
With the gigantic reach of GR6, which totals more than 6 billion streams on digital platforms and has more than 40 million subscribers on YouTube, music has the potential to reach millions of people and generate a great social impact.
“We want to create an anthem as strong as ‘We are the world’, made in the 80s to combat hunger on the African continent. Brazil is capable of producing something unprecedented and just as relevant, and I am sure that urban music will provide the necessary stage for this”, he concludes.
The song is now available on all digital platforms, such as Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, Amazon Music, TikTok Music, YouTube and YouTube Music. Furthermore, GR6 has just released the clip, directed by Léo Vale and Vitinho Tavares, from GR6 Filmes, which tells the life story of Vini Jr. from childhood to his success as a football player. The narrative interweaves homemade and striking images from his career with recordings made by the artists in the studio, creating impactful visual art. Check it out below.
All content will be distributed by the record label and publisher GR6 Music together with Virgin Music Group, part of Universal Music Group.
Support from Vivo
Vivo, as an anti-racist technology company, signs the presentation of the clip produced. In this partnership, the brand activates Presença Preta, a project created in 2022 to reinforce the representation of black people at music festivals. The synergy between Vivo and the GR6 initiative occurs through the approach between the brand and Musicalize, a company from the Dreamers Group specialized in connecting brands to music, which has been activating Vivo’s presence at festivals for two consecutive years.
“We believe in the power of music as a universal language to expand the reach of the anti-racist fight, a genuine and consistent agenda within Vivo”, says Marina Daineze, Brand and Communications Director at Vivo.
