Film recalls the effervescence in Largo São Bento, in São Paulo, and the emergence of crews
Puma launched this Friday (25) the mini-documentary “A Onda do Break”, which tells the story of the beginnings of this culture that grew in São Paulo, in the 1980s, while the Hip Hop movement expanded across Brazil. The action also represents the beginning of the new campaign for the classic sneaker, the Puma Suede.
The film recalls the effervescence in Largo São Bento, in São Paulo, and the emergence of crews, such as Back Spin, Crazy Crew, Nação Zulu and Street Warriors, considered references of the movement. It is also at this time that names like OSGEMEOS, Thaíde, DJ Hum, Mano Brown and MC Jack begin to appear.
Created in partnership with the collective Mad Lab Rats and A21 Films, the mini-documentary gathers reports from crew members as well as characters such as Nelson Triunfo, considered the pioneer of Hip Hop in Brazil, and Doze Green, one of the hip hop pioneers worldwide.
To bring the public even closer to the period, the brand customized 50 pairs of Suede and re-edited the historical coats used by the four crews, produced exclusively for the film, which is available on the brand’s YouTube channel.
