15-meter installation celebrates the premiere of the series’ second season on the Max streaming platform.
In a mix of fantasy and reality, a giant from the skies of Westeros descended onto the busy streets of São Paulo. A 50-foot replica of Syrax, Rhaenyra Targaryen’s dragon, from the series’ acclaimed universeHBO Original House of the Dragon‘, landed last Thursday (13) on top of the iconic purple building of Nubank, located in São Paulo on Avenida Rebouças. The large creature is the first and only of its kind in Latin America. The initiative is part of the partnership between Nubank and MaxPlatform of streaming and Warner Bros. Discoverywhich is part of the Nubank+ and Ultravioleta offers, and celebrates the premiere of the second season of the series, which was released on June 16, on Max and HBO.
“We are very happy to bring the magic and grandeur of the Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon universe to the heart of São Paulo, through this initiative, which reinforces our entry as a brand into the pop culture territory. For Alessandra Pontes, vice president of Distribution and Partnerships for Brazil at Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), the installation of the iconic dragon, which represents the universe of Westeros, symbolizes the strength of this partnership.
“It is emblematic that we bring to Nubank’s headquarters the ultimate icon of power and fascination from the Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon universe. We celebrate this partnership in a unique way, which includes offering a Max subscription to Nubank+ and Ultravioleta customers, as well as experiences that will delight the public off-screen too”, says Alessandra.
The initiative represents the conflicts and tensions between the Black Council and the Green Council during the second season of House of the Dragon. In this dynamic, Nubank, Max’s partner, chose the side of the Black Council, represented by the image of Syrax, Rhaenyra’s dragon.
Within the concept of the campaign for the second season of the series, which proposes to the public that they “Choose Your Side” in the battle of the Green and Black Councils, cities from different countries are being taken over by the flags of each side, with CGI animations. The invasion of flags has already begun in Brazil. The Greens took over Pão de Açúcar, in Rio de Janeiro, and the initiative will continue in other countries in Latin America, such as Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Colombia.
The visual spectacle of the dragon in Brazil became a reality thanks to the talent of artist Fabio Alexandre, who meticulously constructed the creature using materials such as high-density styrofoam, water-based resin, fiberglass lamination, automotive paints and crystal resin with sun protection, completing the work after 20 days of dedicated work. Fans will have the opportunity to see the dragon for a month, until July 12th.
