Women 50+ will love this new feature! A LG has just announced the beta phase of its latest project, called ‘Menopause Mode’. This innovative feature uses artificial intelligence, ThinQ connectivity and smartwatches to identify and alleviate the sudden waves of body heat, known as “hot flashes”, that many women experience during this phase. Hot flashes cause discomfort and disrupt the quality of sleep, impacting a woman’s general well-being.
Created by the agency AlmapBBDOthe initiative works through an application installed on the smartwatch, which monitors body temperature, heart rate and blood oxygenation in real time. When detecting a hot flash, the app sends an immediate command to the LG Dual Inverter +AI air conditioner to reduce the temperature and cool the room quickly. After ten minutes, the device returns to the user-defined standard temperature.
“Here at LG, we always seek to employ Artificial Intelligence in order to offer benefits to the consumer, and this news is proof of how technology can truly improve people’s lives. With this action, we emphasize our commitment to applying the intelligence of affection, one of the pillars of our global positioning, along with our Life’s Good purpose”, says Rodrigo Fiani, Vice President of IT, B2B and Air Conditioning Sales at LG do Brazil.
According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), around 29 million women in Brazil are in the climacteric phase, representing 7.9% of the female population. A third of them will suffer from moderate to severe hot flashes during menopause, significantly affecting their quality of life. Despite being an inevitable stage in women’s lives, menopause is still a topic avoided in most conversations. A recent survey conducted by the hygiene and health company Essity with 2 thousand Brazilian women revealed that 7 in 10 respondents (69%) agree that menopause continues to be a taboo, which is not exclusive to Brazil.
“In addition to being a app which contributes to women’s well-being, ‘Menopause Mode’ is taking the smart home to a new level. For the first time, it will work with the body’s vital signs”, says Lilian Cavallini, Head of Creative Technology at AlmapBBDO.
To present the new technology, LG launched the advertising film that you can see below, and plans several creative actions and digital content about the climate. Initiative partners, Adriane Galisteu and Carol Loback, will share their experiences with menopause on social media, creating a connection with other women facing the same challenges.
