Project will begin with the payment of meal vouchers to municipal employees
The municipality of Santo Antônio da Alegria, in the interior of São Paulo, in partnership with C9 Tech, Tanssi, Polkadot and ICT Inova Brasil, announced the creation of the country’s first municipal currency on the blockchain.
Developed with the support of the Brazilian Association of Municipalities (ABM) and Dinamo Networks, the project promises to transform the management of social benefits, establishing a new standard of efficiency, transparency and financial inclusion.
The municipal currency, called “Alegria”, will be implemented with an integrated solution that includes POS machines or NFC-enabled mobile phones for establishments and a physical card with an integrated web3 wallet for users, eliminating the need for traditional intermediaries such as banks.
The project will begin with the payment of meal vouchers to employees in the municipality of Santo Antônio da Alegria, with expansion plans to include social benefits for all citizens.
