This Saturday (13) is World Rock Day, a date that pays tribute to iconic performances by artists such as Queen, U2, Phil Collins, David Bowie, Elton John and The Who at the Live Aid festival, held at Wembley Stadium, England. To mark the date and celebrate the rich history of the genre, Tramontina transformed one of its products into an unusual musical instrument: the guitar shovel!
Inspired by the first cigar box guitarswhich were built by rural workers and itinerant musicians with materials such as cigar boxes, pieces of wood and wire, Tramontina’s guitar shovel seeks to rescue the creativity and artistic expression of Blues musicians, considered the father of Rock. This musical style, which emerged in the late 19th century on cotton farms in the southern United States, is directly related to the countryside, just like Tramontina’s shovel.
The guitar was built by Mauricio Zorrer, using Tramontina tools to ensure a complete instrument with an ideal sound. The brand also invited musician Guto Konrad to test the guitar and see if it really worked as a musical instrument. Did it work? Check out the video below.
The guitar shovel will not be sold as part of Tramontina’s portfolio, but it serves as a source of inspiration for creativity and innovation, showing that common objects can gain new functions and meanings. Tramontina websitethere are all the tools used to build the guitar.
