A Mauricio de Sousa Productions (MSP) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), a UN agency dedicated to promoting and protecting children’s rights, will hold an auction of 31 versions of Sansão, Monica’s faithful squire, each styled and signed by a different Brazilian designer. The action will be in favor of the rights of girls and boys with disabilities in Brazil.
All proceeds raised will be donated to UNICEF initiatives aimed at ensuring quality inclusive education in public schools, in partnership with the Rodrigo Mendes Institute (IRM), a Brazilian non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities, contributing to a better present and future for every child and adolescent.
Monica, the most famous girl in the red dress in the country, was named UNICEF Ambassador in Brazil in 2007.
“All children deserve a better future full of opportunities. Through art and solidarity, we can build a fairer and more inclusive world for everyone,” says Mônica Sousa, executive director of the commercial department at Mauricio de Sousa Produções.
On the sixtieth anniversary of the character Mônica, Brazilian designers were invited to make an artistic intervention on the famous rabbit. The creative process was free. The customized pieces were available to the general public during a traveling exhibition that visited several cities in the country.
Among those selected are Priscilla and Camilla Macedo, Carol Barreto, Dani, Gabriel, Isa – Isaac Silva Brands, Luiza Mallmann, Meninos Reis, Olé Rendeiras, Priscilla, Ronaldo Fraga and Walério Araújo. The campaign was supported by Panini, a world leader in the collectibles and publications sector; and GOL, the official airline of the Monica 60th Anniversary campaign.
To participate in the auction, interested parties must register at official site.
